The Krimml Achen Valley
The Krimml Achen Valley extends to the southwest of Krimml, high above the Krimml Waterfalls. It is one of the most beautiful high valleys in the National Park Hohe Tauern and an ideal walking area, by virtue of its idyllic mountain pastures and the gently flowing Krimml Ache which rises by the Krimml Törl. The Zillertal Alps which border the valley to the west and the Venetian Alps to the east offer outstanding opportunities for all sorts of tours with starting points at the Krimmler Tauernhaus, the Warnsdorfer Hütte or the Richter Hütte.
The path through the Krimml Achen Valley over the Birnlücke (2,671m) and the Krimml Tauern (2,634m) and across the Windbach Valley into the South Tyrolean Ahrn Valley is an ancient Alpine crossing used by the Romans.
The Krimml Waterfalls
The Krimml Waterfalls with a total height of 380 m are the highest waterfalls in Europe. The waterfalls walk takes people with a passion for nature to viewing points, across bridges and over promontories right up to within touching distance of the Krimml Ache. Huge volumes of water come crashing down and at the end of the Krimml Achen Valley it falls in three stages - upper, middle and lower falls - into the Salzach Valley.

The high concentration of negative ions in the air around the waterfalls stimulates the immune system, leads to a sustained improvement of the airways, has a positive effect on lung function and reduces the frequency of attack in asthmatics and people suffering from allergies.
